Biography[]

Willie Randolph (Willie Larry Randolph) was born on July 6, 1954 in Holly Hill, South Carolina. He made his Major League debut on July 29, 1975 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1976, his rookie year, he hit .267 with 1 home run and 40 RBI. Randolph played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics, Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets over the course of his 18 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Willie Randolph's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1980, when he stole 30 bases and hit for a .294 average. However, others believe that it was 1979, when he stole 33 bases and knocked in 61 runs.

He was the manager of the Mets from 2005–08, compiling a career managerial record of 302-253. He was 6-4 in the postseason as the Mets' skipper.
