Biography[]

Ty Cobb (Tyrus Raymond Cobb) was born on December 18, 1886 in Narrows, Georgia. He made his Major League debut on August 30, 1905 for the Detroit Tigers. In 1905, his rookie year, he hit .240 with 1 home run and 15 RBI. Cobb played for the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Athletics over the course of his 24 year career.

Ty Cobb is considered by many as the best hitting baseball player of all time. Ty Cobb only batted under .316 once in his 24 year career. He was the first player inducted into the Baseball Hall Of Fame, and at the time he retired held 43 career records for a hitting baseball player. His career .366 B.A. is the best all-time and is likely to never be broken. He was also known for his tough, all out approach to baseball.
