Biography[]

Tris Speaker (Tristram E. Speaker) was born on April 4, 1888 in Hubbard, Texas. He made his Major League debut on September 12, 1907 for the Boston Americans. In 1909, his rookie year, he hit .309 with 7 home runs and 77 RBI. Speaker played for the Boston Americans, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators and Philadelphia Athletics over the course of his 22 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Tris Speaker's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1923, when he slugged 17 home runs, hit for a .380 average and knocked in 130 runs. However, others believe that it was 1912, when he stole 52 bases, hit for a .383 average and knocked in 90 runs.
