Small-ball is fun to watch, but it"s dubious as to whether or not it can win games. Even if you factor in the distraction to the pitcher that an SB threat can cause, you have to successfully steal at a large clip (I believe it"s over 70%) just to break even in terms of runs. In other words, the cost of being thrown out far outweighs the reward of the extra base. I for one am glad that more "baseball people" are finally getting this idea, given their notorious disregard for Sabermetric innovations.
