Born on October 13, 1876 in Bradford, Pennsylvania, Rube Waddell (George Edward Waddell) played for the Louisville Colonels, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Orphans, Philadelphia Athletics and St. Louis Browns over the course of his 13 year career. Waddell broke into the bigs on September 8, 1897 with the Louisville Colonels, and put up a 3.08 ERA in 79 innings pitched in 1899, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Rube Waddell's best season was 1904, when he posted a 1.62 ERA, won 25 games and struck out 349 batters.
