Born on August 25, 1946 in Steubenville, Ohio, Rollie Fingers (Roland Glen Fingers) played for the Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers over the course of his 17 year career. Fingers broke into the bigs on September 15, 1968 with the Oakland Athletics, and put up a 3.71 ERA in 119 innings pitched in 1969, his rookie year.
There is some disagreement on what was Rollie Fingers's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1977, when he posted a 2.99 ERA, notched 35 saves and struck out 113 batters. However, others believe that it was 1981, when he posted a 1.04 ERA, notched 28 saves and struck out 61 batters.
