Biography[]Patrick Burke (born December 14, 1973 in Dublin, Ireland) is an American professional basketball player in the NBA currently with the Phoenix Suns. He is the first Irish-born player in NBA history. He is captain of the Irish national basketball team. Undrafted out of Auburn University in 1997, he signed a contract with the Orlando Magic in 2002 and played 62 games for them, averaging 4.3 points and 2.4 rebounds. He did not play in the NBA during the 2003-04 NBA season or the 2004-05 NBA season. Burke attended Mariner High School in Cape Coral, Florida, USA. He did not play organized basketball until age 16.[citation needed] He has also won three consecutive Greek League Championships with Panathinaikos from 1998-99 to 2000-01 and has averaged 8.2 points and 5.2 rebounds in 211 Euroleague career games.
