Biography[]

Orlando Cepeda (Orlando Manuel (Penne) Cepeda) was born on September 17, 1937 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He made his Major League debut on April 15, 1958 for the San Francisco Giants. In 1958, his rookie year, he hit .312 with 25 home runs and 96 RBI. Cepeda played for the San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals over the course of his 17 year career.

Most people believe that Orlando Cepeda's best season was 1961, when he slugged 46 home runs, hit for a .311 average and knocked in 142 runs.
