Born on November 25, 1973 in Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional (Dominican Republic), Octavio Dotel (Octavio Eduardo (Diaz) Dotel) played for the New York Mets, Houston Astros, Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees over the course of his 8 year career. Dotel broke into the bigs on June 26, 1999 with the New York Mets, and put up a 5.38 ERA in 85.1 innings pitched in 1999, his rookie year.
There is some disagreement on what was Octavio Dotel's most productive season. Some believe that it was 2004, when he posted a 3.69 ERA, notched 36 saves and struck out 122 batters. However, others believe that it was 2002, when he posted a 1.85 ERA and struck out 118 batters.
