Biography [ ]
Born on January 31, 1947 in Refugio, Texas, Nolan Ryan (Lynn Nolan Ryan) played for the New York Mets , California Angels , Houston Astros and Texas Rangers over the course of his 27 year career. Ryan broke into the bigs on September 11, 1966 with the New York Mets , and put up a 3.09 ERA in 134 innings pitched in 1968, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Nolan Ryan's best season was 1973 , when he posted a 2.87 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 383 batters.
