Marlon Byrd (Marlon Jerrard Byrd) was born on August 30, 1977 in Boynton Beach, Florida. Byrd attended Georgia Premier College and was selected in the 10th round (#306 overall) in the 1999 MLB draft by the Philadelphia Phillies. Before Georgia Perimeter, he attended Georgia Tech after graduating from Sprayberry High School, where his team won the State Championship in 1995. He made his Major League debut just over three years later, on September 8, 2002, for the Phils. In 2003, his rookie year, he hit .303 with 7 home runs and 45 RBI. Byrd played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, and Texas Rangers over the course of his 6 year career.
