Born on July 27, 1955 in Fort Knox, Kentucky, Len Barker (Leonard Harold Barker) played for the Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers over the course of his 11 year career. Barker broke into the bigs on September 14, 1976 with the Texas Rangers, and put up a 4.82 ERA in 52.1 innings pitched in 1978, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Len Barker's best season was 1982, when he posted a 3.90 ERA, won 15 games, struck out 187 batters and pitched the first perfect game in 13 years.
