Biography[]

Kevin Youkilis (Kevin Edmund Youkilis) was born on March 15, 1979 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He made his Major League debut on May 15, 2004 for the Boston Red Sox. In 2004, his rookie year, he hit .260 with 7 home runs and 35 RBI. Youkilis played for the Boston Red Sox for his entire 3 year career.

Dubbed the "Greek God of Walks" in the popular book Moneyball, Youkilis has become known for his exceptional plate discipline. In 2006, as the full-time starting first baseman and filling in at the lead-off spot for the injured Coco Crisp, Youkilis has taken his game to a whole new level. He has shown exceptional defensive ability, and is a major part of Boston's league-leading defense, with 1 error and a .997 fielding percentage. He's also developed into a legitimate power hitter, with a .317BA and a .429 OBP through the first two months of 2006.
