Biography

Julio Franco (Julio Cesar Franco) was born on August 23, 1958 in Hato Mayor, Hato Mayor (Dominican Republic). He made his Major League debut on April 23, 1982 for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1983, his rookie year, he hit .273 with 8 home runs and 80 RBI. Franco played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Atlanta Braves and New York Mets over the course of his 22 year career.

Most people believe that Julio Franco's best season was 1991, when he slugged 15 home runs, stole 36 bases, hit for a .341 average and knocked in 78 runs.
