Powell's calling card is his length, and because of it he was able to hold his own defensively against bigger players as a rookie. Smaller players gave him fits, though, as he doesn't have the quickness or speed to keep up. Despite being promoted as a rebounder, Powell was nothing special on the boards in his first season, and he blocked far fewer shots than was expected of a player touted for his athleticism and long arms. Offensively, Powell was a turnover machine and had 26% of his field goal attempts blocked, but showed some promise nonetheless, shooting respectably from the floor and the line. Powell is still raw, but he could eventually become a solid member of somebody's rotation.
