Born on September 30, 1972 in Santiago, Santiago (Dominican Republic), Jose Lima (Jose Desiderio Rodriguez Lima) played for the Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets over the course of his 13 year career. Lima broke into the bigs on April 20, 1994 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 6.11 ERA in 73.2 innings pitched in 1995, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Jose Lima's best season was 1999, when he posted a 3.58 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 187 batters.
