Biography[]

Born on April 12, 1930 in Rochester, New York, Johnny Antonelli (John August Antonelli) played for the Boston Braves, Milwaukee Braves, New York Giants, San Francisco Giants and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 12 year career. Antonelli broke into the bigs on July 4, 1948 with the Boston Braves, and put up a 3.56 ERA in 96 innings pitched in 1949, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Johnny Antonelli's best season was 1954, when he posted a 2.30 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 152 batters.
