Biography[]

J.T. Snow (Jack Thomas Snow) was born on February 26, 1968 in Long Beach, California. He made his Major League debut on September 20, 1992 for the New York Yankees. In 1993, his rookie year, he hit .241 with 16 home runs and 57 RBI. Snow played for the New York Yankees, California Angels, San Francisco Giants and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 15 year career.

Most people believe that J.T. Snow's best season was 1997, when he slugged 28 home runs, hit for a .281 average and knocked in 104 runs.

Snow is a first baseman who strikes out a lot, but doesn't have the power associated with high K-rates or first base. He has topped 20 HR just 3 times in his 14 year career. And he has managed just 30 doubles 3 times as well. He does draw a lot of walks, howerver, so he does usually end up with a respectable OBP to go with his mediocre AVG and SLG. He's best known for his defense. He has great range and good hands and is considered one of the best defensive first basemen of his generation.

Snow spent the bulk of his career with the Giants. In 9 seasons with the club he became a fan favorite. After his tank dried up and he had nothing left to offer a team, he signed with the Boston Red Sox as a free agent. In recent years the Red Sox have taken a liking to useless defensive first basemen like Snow, John Olerud, and Doug Mientkiewicz

Snow wears the number 84 in honor of his father, Jack Snow, a former wide receiver.
