Born on March 9, 1944 in Boquete, Panama, Ed Acosta (Eduardo Elixbet (Lopez) Acosta) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres over the course of his 3 year career. Acosta broke into the bigs on September 7, 1970 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 4.45 ERA in 89 innings pitched in 1972, his rookie year.
