Biography

Ed Abbaticchio (Edward James Abbaticchio) was born on April 15, 1877 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on September 4, 1897 for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1903, his rookie year, he hit .227 with 1 home run and 46 RBI. Abbaticchio played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Beaneaters, Pittsburgh Pirates and Boston Doves over the course of his 9 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Ed Abbaticchio's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1905, when he stole 30 bases and hit for a .279 average. However, others believe that it was 1907, when he stole 35 bases and knocked in 82 runs.
