The Cincinnati Reds have reached agreement with arbitration-eligible outfielder Adam Dunn on a two-year contract extension that includes a club option for the 2008 season.
Newly installed general manager Wayne Krivsky acted quickly to lock up the Reds' best power hitter for the next three seasons. Dunn, who earned $4.6 million last season, had sought $8.95 million in arbitration, with the Reds offering $7.1 million. Dunn's new contract will pay him $7.5 million in 2006 and $10.5 million in 2007. The club option for 2008 would keep Dunn off the market during his first year of free agency for $13 million.
