Biography

Born on October 3, 1954 in Oakland, California, Dennis Eckersley (Dennis Lee Eckersley) played for the Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Oakland Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 24 year career. Eckersley broke into the bigs on April 12, 1975 with the Cleveland Indians, and put up a 2.60 ERA in 186.2 innings pitched in 1975, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Dennis Eckersley's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1992, when he posted a 1.91 ERA, notched 51 saves and struck out 93 batters. However, others believe that it was 1990, when he posted a .61 ERA, notched 48 saves and struck out 73 batters.
