Biography[]
David Tyree David Mikel Tyree (born January 3, 1980 in Livingston, New Jersey) is an American football special teams/wide receiver who plays for the New York Giants in the National Football League. He was a sixth round draft pick by the Giants in the 2003 NFL Draft.
Tyree played high school football at Montclair High School in Montclair, New Jersey, where he was selected as a Blue Chip Illustrated All-American. He then played college ball at Syracuse University
Over Tyree's career at Syracuse, he ranked 13th on the career receiving record list with 1,214 yards, including a career best 229 yards against Virginia Tech in 2002. He also developed a reputation for being an excellent special teams player, amassing six blocked punts.
Tyree was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2005 for special teams excellence. He is the first Giant to be selected as a special teams player since Reyna Thompson in 1990. Tyree was named one of the 50 most charitable players in the NFL according to ESPN The Magazine. David Tyree is most famous for his catch on the Giants' final drive of Super Bowl XLII that helped propel his team to a 17-14 win over the Patriots. He also caught a TD pass in the Super Bowl.
