Toledo is Bowling Green's main rival, separated by 25 miles in northwest Ohio. In recent years, the Mid-American Conference has moved the football portion of this rivalry to Thanksgiving Week, and for the past several years, it has played a major role in deciding divisional champions in the conference.
Kent State is, to a lesser extent, also regarded as a rival for the Falcons. Both schools were formed in 1910 as teaching colleges, and a natural rivalry grew from there.
