Born on May 21, 1970 in Charleston, South Carolina, Bryce Florie (Bryce Bettencourt Florie) played for the San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 8 year career. Florie broke into the bigs on July 17, 1994 with the San Diego Padres, and put up a 3.01 ERA in 68.2 innings pitched in 1995, his rookie year.
There is some disagreement on what was Bryce Florie's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1998, when he posted a 4.80 ERA and struck out 97 batters. However, others believe that it was 1995, when he posted a 3.01 ERA and struck out 68 batters.
Career cut short when he was struck in the eye with a line drive during a game. His vision was never the same again, and was forced into retirement after being released by Boston and struggling in Oakland's minord.
