Biography
Brandon Phillips is the second baseman for the Cincinnati Reds.
He was drafted out of high school by the Montreal Expos in 1999. In June of 2002, the Expos traded Phillips along with Cliff Lee and Grady Sizemore to the Cleveland Indians for Bartolo Colon.
Phillips did not fare well in the Indians organization. He failed to perform in the field, pushed into a starting Major League job too soon. Phillips also had a personality conflict with Indians manager Eric Wedge.
Before the 2006 season, unable to find a place for Phillips in the organization, the Indians traded him to the Cincinnati Reds for a player to be named later. Since being traded to Cincinnati, Phillips has blossomed, establishing himself as worthy of the position of everyday second baseman.
