Biography[]

Bobby Doerr (Robert Pershing Doerr) was born on April 7, 1918 in Los Angeles, California. He made his Major League debut on April 20, 1937 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1937, his rookie year, he hit .224 with 2 home runs and 14 RBI. Doerr played for the Boston Red Sox for his entire 14 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Bobby Doerr's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1950, when he slugged 27 home runs, hit for a .294 average and knocked in 120 runs. However, others believe that it was 1940, when he slugged 22 home runs, hit for a .291 average and knocked in 105 runs.
