Biography[]

Born on November 3, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan, Bob Welch (Robert Lynn Welch) played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland Athletics over the course of his 17 year career. Welch broke into the bigs on June 20, 1978 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and put up a 2.02 ERA in 111.1 innings pitched in 1978, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Bob Welch's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1990, when he posted a 2.95 ERA, won 27 games and struck out 127 batters. However, others believe that it was 1987, when he posted a 3.22 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 196 batters.
