Biography[]

Born on September 19, 1930 in Troy, Illinois, Bob Turley (Robert Lee Turley) played for the St. Louis Browns, Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 12 year career. Turley broke into the bigs on September 29, 1951 with the St. Louis Browns, and put up a 3.28 ERA in 60.1 innings pitched in 1953, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bob Turley's best season was 1958, when he posted a 2.97 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 168 batters. He won the Hickok Belt as top professional athlete of the year, the Cy Young Award as the best pitcher in Major League Baseball, and the World Series Most Valuable Player Award.

He wore uniform number 24 on the Browns, 33 when they moved to Baltimore as the Orioles, 19 on the Yankees, 39 on the Angels, and 29 on the Red Sox.

Turley is now a representative for Primerica Financial Services. He lives in his lush home located in the state of Georgia.
