Bob Elliott (Robert Irving Elliott) was born on November 26, 1916 in San Francisco, California. He made his Major League debut on September 2, 1939 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1940, his rookie year, he hit .292 with 5 home runs and 64 RBI. Elliott played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Braves, New York Giants, St. Louis Browns and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 15 year career.
There is some disagreement on what was Bob Elliott's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1947, when he slugged 22 home runs, hit for a .317 average and knocked in 113 runs. However, others believe that it was 1944, when he hit for a .297 average and knocked in 108 runs.
