Billy Thompson (William Allen Thompson) was born on October 10, 1946 in Greenville, South Carolina. After going to high school at Sterling (Greenville, SC), Thompson attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Thompson made his professional debut in the AFL in 1969 with the Denver Broncos.
