LeBron Scores 10,000th Point in Loss
With 4:24 to go in the first half LeBron James limped into the locker room looking like he suffered a pretty serious ankle injury. After the x-rays came out negative he returned in the second half to score his 10,000th career point, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to reach the plateau. Even more impressive is that Lebron is more then a full year younger then the next youngest to 10,000 pts, Kobe was 24 years and 193 days to Lebron who is 23 years and 59 days. This record feat was still not enough to propel the Cavs to victory as they still came up short in Boston by a score of 92-87. It looks like Boston will be in a race until the end of the regular season with Detroit for the top seed in the east, a situation we are sure the Celtics would have liked to avoid so they could rest their stars down the stretch.
Duke Wins, Coach K at 799
Duke coach Mike Krzyewskitallied his 799th career as the Blue Devils beat Georgia Tech 71-58 last night. Coach K will look to reach the historic mark on Saturday as Duke travels to Raleigh to face NC State. This is Coach K's squads second win in a row and they look like they are righting th ship after they dropped two in a row earlier this month. Gerald Henderson was the leading scorer for Duke with 15.
If Coach K wins on Saturday he will become the second coach this week to reach the 800 win milestone, Rutgers women's coach C. Vivian Stringer accomplished the feat last night in her teams win over DePaul. She joins current Tennessee coach Pat Summit and retired Texas coach Jody Conradt as the only females with 800 career victories.
