The trade deadline came and went. And the Boston Bruins did nothing, except hang on to some young talent and give their young team some confidence.

The Boston Bruins came out on a three game winning streak and points in their last five games. While their division rival the Ottawa Senators came out after being shut-out against the last place Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Bruins struck first as [[Shawn Thorn ton]] slid his third goal of the season under goaltender Martin Gerber and that would be all the Bruins would need, as they would go on to win 4-0 and move into sixth place in the conference.

Thorton had the first goal of the game and then his line mate David Krejci added his first career goal in his 43rd career game, at 17:23 of the first period. The Bruins dominated the entire first period end to end on the score sheet and on the ice.

In the second period the captain of the black and gold, Zdeno Chara, added a power play goal his 13th of the season and 7th on the power play. He was set up by Marc Savard and Marco Sturm on a nice set up that dragged two Senators defensemen behind the goal line and Chara riffled a slap shot that went high glove side on the Senators goaltender. Tim Thomas made a few big saves in the period on his way to a 22 save shutout performance.

Chara then iced the deal with just under a minute to go when the Senators pulled Gerber to have a 6 on 4 man advantage, Chara picked a the lower right corner from the bottom of the left face off circle in his zone.

The Senators attempted to bring out a big game but where continuously shut down by the Bruins. Getting just 22 shots and going 0 for 4 on the power play. The Senators have now been shut out in two consecutive games.

The Bruins moved up in the standings with the big win over the Senators, and the Bruins dominated getting 29 shots and going 1 for 5 on the power play.

The Bruins will entertain the Penguins on Thursday and try to keep this four game winning streak going.
