Playoffs are almost here and it's about time we start thinking about who will win the post season awards. Here is a list i have composed of who will win it and who should win it. (Major Awards only)
Hart Trophy:
Who should win it: Alexander Ovechkin, Washington Capitals and Jarome Iginla, Calgary Flames
If the NHL could let to players share a trophy these to men would win it, both are there teams leading scorers, both throw the body, both are great leaders and both the Caps and the Flames depend on these guys to give 100%.
Who will win it: Alexander Ovechkin
I know we want to think that this trophy means who is Most Valuable to there team but it's who's the Most Valuable player through out the league, if Iggy only and more points.
Vezina Trophy:
Who should win it: Evgeni Nabokov, San Jose Sharks
This guy is a work horse, with no reliable back up in San Jose this guy picks up the load and is having a career year the guy is in the top 10 in 3 of the 4 major goaltending categories he quickly becoming one of the best goalies in the world and San Jose is lucky to have this guy.
'Who will win it: Evgeni Nabokov
Calder Trophy:
Who should win it: Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, Chicago Blackhawks
I would say this is the second best rookie class we have seen in the last ten years but none the less still great, I could easily throw Nicklas Backstrom, Sam Gagner and Andrew Cogliano in here but it would to much to see 3 guys win the same trophy, I mean only one of the guys I chose will win it but both Kane and Towes deserve it. There both playing like 10 year vets on a Chicago team no one expected to be where they are right now this late into the season both have been thrust into leadership rolls in there rookie year along with Patrick Sharp the Hawks have a great future ahead.
Who will win it: Patrick Kane
If Towes never got hurt i would have said him but easier said then done leads all rookies in points and his team as well.
Norris Trophy:
Who should win it: Dion Phaneuf, Calgary Flames
Man this guy is turning into a Scott Stevens everyone knows when he's on the ice, great talent, is a freaking beast doesn't care who you are he'll run you into the boards, and the guy can score.... if only the voters lived out west.
Who will win it: Nicklas Lidstrom, Detroit Red Wings
For like the 10 millionth time it seems like Nik Lidstrom will win it and he deserves it, the Wings struggled when he was hurt and soon as he comes back there back to their old selves, great leader and great player... next stop the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Jack Adams:
Who should win it: Bruce Boudreau, Washington Capitals
Comes in as an Interim Head Coach and has one of the best records in the NHL since he took over and has put the Caps in a position where they can push into the playoffs... enough said.
Who will win it: Bruce Boudreau
So many great coaches this year, Guy Carboneau in Montreal miss playoffs to cup contender, Craig McTavish has made a recent push to try get in to the playoffs, Wayne Gretzky experts say they win the lottery and put the Coyotes into position to make the playoffs still recently, Brent Sutter first year in the swamp and still a cup contender.... but Boudreau stops them all.
