Article:2008 Hottest Female Athlete Tournament - Second Round Voting (Regions 3 & 4)

With the final two regions in the books for the first round, we can take one step closer to determining, definitively, who the Hottest Female Athlete of All-Time is. I, for one, am almost breathless with anticipation.
Some have complained about an overall lack of hotness, a complaint that will fall on deaf ears as far as yours truly, Shrubbery, and Romiezzo are concerned. Because you guys just ain’t looking hard enough. Dumbasses. And some have complained about the draw, which is legit because some exceedingly hot women were left in the ruin that was the first round. Such is the nature of the beast, and we, The Committee, do serve a fickle public. I mean, after all, we have posted some incredibly lurid pics of some incredibly hot woman. For a higher spank factor one must peruse the nearest Playboy.

The prohibitive favorite and number one seed Jamie Sale was unceremoniously ousted in Round 1, a complete shocker! This opens the door for Malia Jones, the Feres twins, Gretchen Blieler, and Daniela Hantuchova. All these lovely lasses crushed their first opponents and established themselves as the top rated hotties from Region 3. The Sale loss is still hard to fathom, a #1 seed getting beat in a tight match by Amanda Coetzer. Oh well, so much for predictions and seedings.

The second round could be free for all as no upper seed is safe. The closest match of Round One was the narrow victory by Laila Ali over Michelle Kwan, a margin of victory of only three votes and two tenths of a percentage point. The other close struggle was Sasha Cohen nipping, so to speak, Mia St. John by three votes and two tenths of a percent.

The best matchups of Round 2 could be the Feres twins against Anna Rawson, Coetzer vs. Natalie Ward, and Maurizia Cacciatore vs. Erica Blasberg.

Shrubbery's Region 3 Predictions

Rom-Dawg's Region 3 Predictions

Amanda Coetzer vs. Natalie Ward: I think that this would be tough for me to decide. However, I'm definitely betting on Coetzer winning against Ward. After defeating top seed Jamie Sale in the FIRST round, I have to say that the people will probably vote on Coetzer, since I believe Jamie Sale is better competition than Natalie Ward... unless putting a glove to a chest is EXTREMELY hot to many people, and hot enough to get Ward to advance...

Maurizia Cacciatori vs. Erica Blasberg: Wow, what a matchup. I knew things would get better as we'd narrow it down, but I didn't know things would get good this early. This matchup is a pretty good example of that, as I can't decide who I'm going to choose yet. I think I'm going to go against Shrubz here and pick Cacciatori. This is definitely going to be a tight matchup though. We'll see what happens.

Malia Jones vs. Laila Ali: Sorry Laila, but Malia Jones is out of your league. Nothing against Laila (she's pretty attractive if you ask me), but she nothing over the Hawaiian surfer. (Please take a look at more pictures of Malia Jones when you get the chance).

Daniela Hantuchova vs. Franzi VanAlmsick: Unlike Shrubbery, I personally believe that this matchup is going to be tight. I'd have to agree with Shrubbery and say that if I was voting, Hantuchova is going to win it over Franzi. I only count as one vote though, so it's up to you guys as to who advances.

Tanith Belbin vs. Sasha Cohen: A battle of figure skaters: I like it. Both skaters are both beautiful and graceful; what could be better? If I had to vote, I'd go with Sasha. She's so adorable... both on and off the ~~court~~ rink. However, this isn't a "Cutest Female Athlete" tournament: it's a "HOTTEST" Female Athlete" tournament. I just picked Sasha because it was too tough for me to decide who would won based on their "hotness". I'd definitely say Sasha's cuter though...

Bia and Branca Freres vs. Anna Rawson: Sometimes I wonder if this is even fair. How the heck can anyone take on the Freres twins? Two gorgeous girls against one gorgeous girl. The more the merrier...

Anna Kournikova vs. Logan Tom: I seriously can't decide who would win this matchup. It's hard for me to choose after looking at the picture we have displayed of Logan Tom. However, Kournikova has a LOT more hotter pictures than Logan Tom. I'll go with Logan Tom... but not by much, in this situation at least.

Gretchen Bleiler vs. Sarah Will: I know what the result for this contest is going to be. I think this is going to be the biggest blowout in this region: Gretchen Bleiler [BIG] over Sarah Will. It's a shame she's considered an "oldie" and doesn't have many pictures of herself without her on a wheelchair; she was paralyzed in a skiing accident in 1988. I'm glad she still has her beautiful spirit though. She has encouraged several female skiiers to keep trying and to never give up and I'm sure is a role model for them as well.

This region [pretty much] went according to form, with Lauren Jackson and Katie Hnida being the highest seeded casualties. The big five of Gabby Reese, Gina Carano, Veronica Kay, Kristi Leskinen, and Missy Gibson all won rather easily. Leryn Franco crushed Anastasia Myskina, setting up what could be a tough second round match with Gabby Reece.

The most fascinating matchup of Round 2 could be Natalie Coughlin vs. Hope Solo. Other close matches could be Michelle Wie vs. Ana Ivanovic and the lovely Gina Carano vs. the French vixen Laure Manadou.

Shrubbery's Round 4 Predictions

Gabby Reece over Leryn Franco... maybe Hope Solo [narrowly] over Natalie Coughlin Missy Gibson [BIG] over Kate Hnida Kristi Leskinen over Jelena Dokic Veronica Kay [BIG] over Tatiana Grigorieva Lauren Jackson vs. Maria Kirilenko: too close to call Ana Ivanovic over Michelle Wie... maybe Gina Carano over Gisela Dulko... I hope

Rom-Dawg's Round 4 Predictions

Gabrielle Reece vs. Leryn Franco: Oh... my... God! I can't lift up my jaw. These two ladies look absolutely tremendous. You've got one lovely lady on one side, who has been on the cover of Playboy, and you've got a lovely lady on the other side who was runner up for Miss Paraguay. It's going to be sad to see one of these ladies get eliminated, but what has to happen has to happen. It's hard to believe that w e didn't think of her. I'm going with Leryn Franco (in what I think will be a close battle).

Natalie Coughlin vs. Hope Solo: Both of these girls are more "cute" than "hot", in my opinion. I have a hunch that this will be a close one as well. Hope Solo is glamorous. It's a shame that we couldn't find any swimsuit pictures of her (sorry, Old Man). Natalie Coughlin is a very attractive, but more cute than hot looking girl. I'm voting for Hope Solo, but I'm going to say that Natalie Couglin is going to win this contest.
Did you know that Natalie Coughlin is 1/4 Filipino? (I learn something new every day.)

Missy Gibson vs. Katie Hnida: Missy Gibson is one beautiful young lady. She's a surfer who needs to have more pictures posted on the internet to show how beautiful she really is. All I can show you is this. Katie Hnida may not be remembered as just the first woman to score in an NCAA Division 1-A football game: she also has the chance to win this contest, and four more contests to win the "Hottest Female Athlete of the Year". However, I'm going against that, as I think Missy Gibson is way hotter than Hnida is. Gibson over Hnida, in a contest that will not be very close.

Kristi Leskinen vs. Jelena Dokic: Okay, the picture that we have posted up of Kristi Leskinen could not be better. She looks very sexy in pink. It's going to be tough to be her with that picture displayed. I feel sorry for Jelena Dokic, as we couldn't really find a great picture of her. However, even if we found a good picture of Dokic, I honestly think Lesky is hotter than Dokic. (Leskinen [BIG] over Dokic)

Veronica Kay vs. Tatiana Grigorieva: These are two stunning women. The two pictures pretty much explain it all. I honestly prefer Veronica Kay over Tatiana Grigorieva. But everyone has their own opinion. I think this is going to be a pretty close one as well; not really close... just close.

Lauren Jackson vs. Maria Kirilenko: I'm sorry Ms. Jackson... I am for REAL. Maria Kirilenko is just too hot not to advance to the next round.

Michelle Wie vs. Ana Ivanovic: Michelle Wie is gorgeous for a 19 year old. The 6'1" native from Hawaii has got legs that seem like they never end. However, you can't exclude Ana Ivanovic from this contest. The Serbian tennis player is 6'1" as well, and she's... jeez... I can't think of the words.
A picture may be worth 1,000 words... but a slideshow is worth a lot more! As you can probably tell, I'm going with Ana Ivanovic...

Gina Carano vs. Gisela Dulko: This one is too easy for me. I'm going with Gina Carano. In a matchup like this, I think it's almost automatic. Not that Gisela Dulko isn't hot or anything, but Gina Carano is fackin' FINE! Gina Carano over Gisela Dulko...
