The old rub on Jim Boeheim was he could recruit great, and was only a mediocre bench coach. The fact some of his best teams (like 1987) were relatively thin on talent belies this explains his induction in Springfield. But what explains this year's collapse?
Was the front court talent that bad? Was it bad recruiting, bad coaching, or bad luck?
It is hard to win the Big East Conference when your only reliable players are two relatively short guards, one (McNamara) who seems exhausted after four years at the Dome
At this point they are off the NCAA bubble barring a huge win against Cincy and probably one more good Big East tourney outing. I expected much more
