The younger brother of Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Adam, Andy is the far more polished hitter and is coming off an impressive performance for Team USA in the World Cup. The Dodgers have experimented, without success, with LaRoche at first base and right field but more as a way to squeak his bat into the lineup than as a defensive deficiency. LaRoche has the eye, plate coverage and discipline of his brother and has power to boot. His previous weaknesses, chasing bad pitches and getting too pull happy, seemed to eradicate themselves as the season wore on and he led Team USA in walks. LaRoche profiles as an All-Star caliber player and is major league ready right now, the Dodgers seem more likely to use LaRoche in a trade than hand him the 3B job.
