Alejandro Machado (Alejandro Jose Machado) was born on April 26, 1982 in Caracas, Distrito Federal (Venezuela). He made his Major League debut on September 2, 2005 for the Boston Red Sox. Machado played for the Boston Red Sox for his entire 1 year career.
Machado is a speedy player who makes contact and can draw a walk every once in a while. It's not likely that he'll be a star, but with his ability to play second, short, and the oufield, he could have a very good career ahead of him as a utility player. The biggest thing holding him back is his complete lack of power. He has a career .360 SLG in 2430 minor league AB's.
Machado is already working on his 6th organization in his young career. He was last traded from the Montreal Expos to the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named later and cash.
