Biography

Al Simmons (Aloysius Harry Simmons) was born on May 22, 1902 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He made his Major League debut on April 15, 1924 for the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1924, his rookie year, he hit .308 with 8 home runs and 102 RBI. Simmons played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Washington Senators, Cincinnati Reds, Boston Braves and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 20 year career.

Most people believe that Al Simmons's best season was 1930, when he slugged 36 home runs, hit for a .381 average and knocked in 165 runs.
