The 1938 World Series matched the two-time defending champion New York Yankees against the Chicago Cubs, with the Yankees sweeping the Series in four games for their record third straight championship and the seventh in their history.
Dizzy Dean, whose sore arm had carried the Cubs all year, ran out of gas in the Series as the Yanks crushed the Cubs again. The Cubs didn't win a meaningful game against the Yankees until an interleague game in 2003.
Umpires: Charlie Moran (NL), Cal Hubbard (AL), Ziggy Sears (NL), Lou Kolls (AL)
